65 MUNDO SOCIAL ENERO 2026 GLOBALEDUCATION WITHREALIMPACT At the heart of the IB, Pett highlights three pillars: Theory of Knowledge (TOK), the Extended Essay (EE), and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). TOK encourages questioning how knowledge is constructed; the EE develops investigative discipline and academic depth; and CAS connects learning with social reality. A significant example is the partnership with TECHO Panama, where students work directly with vulnerable communities. “It’s not just about helping, but about understanding different realities and reflecting on our role in society,” he explains. With a community of more than 50 nationalities, internationalism is experienced daily, strengthening empathy, intercultural dialogue, and open-mindedness. In this environment, leadership is understood as service, integrity, and purpose. LEADERSHIP WITH VALUES ANDPURPOSE When speaking about leadership, Pett avoids stereotypes. “Here, we don’t develop leaders based on their position, but on their impact,” he states. The leadership fostered at King’s College Panama is based on integrity, empathy, and service. Students take on responsibilities, participate in school initiatives, and learn to work as a team. “They understand that leading also involves listening and serving”, he remarks. A PROGRAM WITH COMMITMENT The director addresses families considering the International Baccalaureate for their children: “The IB is not a programme for perfection, it is a programme for commitment.” He explains that it is designed for students with curiosity, a willingness to work, and a desire to grow. “With support, guidance, and the right attitude, the IB is a profoundly enriching experience,” he adds. When envisioning his graduates, Pett imagines them as confident individuals with clear principles and a global awareness, capable of using their knowledge and skills to make a positive impact wherever they choose to be. “I envision them as self-assured individuals with clear principles and a global awareness”. KING’S SCHOOL PANAMA The first and only accredited British School Organization (BSO) in Panama, rated “Outstanding in all areas” (June 2023). Unique approach: We offer a seamless educational path, with a British Curriculum (from Early Years) culminating in the Diploma Programme (IBDP) in the final two years.
